Our search feature is rather primitive. Here is what it does:
If you enter a word
in the search box, our program will search for that word in the
title, description, and keywords fields of our database and
return all records that contain that word. If the word you entered is
part of another word, the program will return records containing the
larger word (for example: "pagan"
is part of "propaganda"
and "zen"
is part of "citizen").
This shouldn't be much of a problem since our database is still
relatively small. (you won't have thousands of results to sift
through!) If you want to eliminate that potential problem enter a
space before and/or after the word you are looking for.
Don't enter words like "and",
"the",
in the search box by themselves. You will get thousands of records
and it will take 20 minutes or more to download. Besides, what's the
point? Of course you can enter them as part of a phrase.
If you enter a phrase
(two or more words), the program will find every record that contains
all the words in the same order as you entered them. For example: an
entry of "burning man"
in the search box will return a different set of records than "man
burning" and an entry of "the
burning man" will give you fewer
results than "burning man."
You must be sure of the spelling
of the word(s) you are entering. The search program will find exactly
what you have typed in. This is where the program's capability of
finding parts of words can come in handy! If you are unsure of the
spelling, enter the part of the word that you are sure of. Another
handy benefit is, for example, if you are looking for the word
"tattoo"
, the program will find records with the words, "tattoos",
"tattooing",
etc. So, for more results, type the shortest version of the word you
are looking for.
We hope our search capability
makes Zenzibar more useful to you. If something weird happens
when you are using the search box, e-mail
us with the problem and we will use your information to, hopefully,
improve its functioning.
Thanks for
visiting Zenzibar!
