About Amphibia

Emissaries from the planet Amphibia will land again at Burning Man 2009. The theme this year is EVOLUTION.

The main feature - the open-to-the-public Amphibia tent – a 65-foot diameter, 16-foot high radial dome with a 32-foot tall tower in the center of it. Within the dome is a carpeted, jungle-themed space full of couches and small tables. The central tower will have a ladder up to an observation platform.

Our goal for Amphibia - to provide an inspiring and relaxing, jungle-like place for people to hang out, talk, watch and participate in activities.

Leave No Trace - We want Amphibia to be a good example of leave no trace camping on the playa. Here are our LNT guidelines

Camp membership - At this time, membership in the Amphibia theme camp is closed. The camp is full.

Camp Activities

The following Amphibia activities are planned for the week of Burning Man - August 31 to Sept 7, 2009

Wed, Fri, 9:00-10:15am - Hatha Yoga
Feeling a little crispy on the playa? Come for a gentle, flowing hatha yoga practice to refresh, renew and restore.  Get geared up for your playa adventures and have fun breathing and moving.

Tues, Wed, Thurs 11:00am - 4:00pm-ish - Body Painting
Body paints base coat & glitter by the Devil Duck king and queen:  and then after you are painted you paint another - self serve station will be available other times dust storms permitting.

Friday, 10:30-11:45am - Kundalini Yoga
Come join the phriendly pholks at Amphibia for a Kundalini Yoga class in the deep shade of our colorful dome structure!  Class will include techniques to balance and enhance your experience on the playa through the science of Kriya, drawing upon elements of asana (posture), mantra, mudra, and pranayam.  Beginner friendly

This is probably not all the activities we will be scheduling. The final schedule will be posted here the first week of August.

During the times without scheduled activities, Amphibia will be open as a chill space with carpeting, couches, and ambient music.

The planet named Amphibia
is wet and deeply green.

It’s quite a bit like Earth was once,
when dinosaurs were seen.

And on this planet far away
a special frog was born one day…

Infinity!—a hero’s name,
this frog was destined for Earth fame.

They told her the assignment—to save the frogs on Earth.

“Our cousins are endangered there,
the humans rule without a care.

They’re stuck on greed and foolish pride, they do not see that deep inside,

They’re part of nature, not above it,
they need to learn to truly love it.

Act with LOVE and off you go—
be sure to give them all a show!"

And off she flew through deepest space
toward a new and different place.

She flew too fast for us to see,
She earned her name—Infinity!

At last she came to planet Earth,
a precious thing of unknown worth.

Where to start? She made her plan
to visit first the Burning Man
.
